Ferro Chrome

Ferro Chrome is an alloy of iron and chromium. Chromium content varies between 50 and 70% depending on the origin of the material. Its melting point is 1400째 approx. for high carbon and 1620째 for low carbon.We can offer high carbon to very low carbon, as well as nitrided Ferro Chrome and special grades: low Ti, low P, etc. Ferrochrome production is essentially a carbothermic reduction operation taking place at high temperatures. Chrome Ore (an oxide of chromium and iron) is reduced by coal and coke to form the iron-chromium alloy. Ferrochrome is often classified by the amount of carbon and chrome it contains. Low Carbon Ferro Chrome is widely used in steel and foundry industry. Having the low percentage of carbon, it is used to regulate the amount of chromium without disturbing the ratios of other components like carbon, silicon, etc.
